State police in Butler are investigating reports that a teen driver had been drag racing last week when his car collided with another vehicle, killing its 19-year-old driver.
Christina Williams of West Sunbury was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday's accident on Route 308, known locally as West Sunbury Road, in Clay Township, Butler County.
Her 1994 Ford Escort was struck head on by a Mitsubishi GT about 8:20 p.m.
Investigators are looking into reports that the 16-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi had been racing another car, possibly a white Eagle Talon.
The racing vehicles would have been traveling north on Route 308 while Ms. Williams had been driving south, police said.
No charges have been filed.
The 16-year-old driver and his two passengers, ages 16 and 17, were seriously injured and hospitalized after the crash.
Neither of the drivers nor the passengers had been wearing seat belts at the time, police said.
Anyone with information about a possible third vehicle is asked to call state police in Butler at 724-284-8100.
