Q: I think "Bo"Derek Turner deserves a "10" for his touchdown catch on Saturday. Do you agree? It certainly wasn't a "Dud"(ley)!!!!

Bruce Lindquist, Savannah, Ga.

ZEISE: Um, OK, that's pretty good. As a self-proclaimed movie and pop culture buff, especially when it comes to anything with regards to the era of, say 1978-1992, I can appreciate any and all references to movies, music or television from that era is usually going to be solid in my book. That being said -- Oderick Turner's touchdown reception was certainly a thing of beauty. Heck, it was such a great catch at first glimpse I assumed it was Jonathan Baldwin. I'm not sure it was quite as impressive as George Webber's "catch" of Jenny Hanley on the beach in Mexico all those years ago, but impressive nonetheless. And I think it spoke volumes of the impact Baldwin has had on Turner as he seems far more interested and motivated in recent weeks as his playing time has decreased in favor of Baldwin. Incidentally, the best part of that movie is that Dudley Moore dumps Bo Derek in favor of reconciling with Julie Andrews because, well, there was just something immoral in my book about a man dumping someone as pure and as much of a mother figure to us all as Mary Poppins was.

Q: Paul, of all the seniors graduating this year, which ones, if any, will be drafted in the NFL draft? Also, if LeSean McCoy opts to go to the NFL draft as an eligible underclassman this year, how do you justify Pitt competing a one/two loss season next year? And finally, which "hair metal band" can we expect to make a great reunion tour next year?

Michael Shultz, Washington, Pa.

ZEISE: About McCoy, as I wrote the other day -- the running back position is in very good hands with Chris Burns and Shariff Harris, and frankly Burns was one of the five or six best players I saw at camp this year. You obviously don't replace a big-time player easily, but that's one position Pitt seems to be loaded at. Now the seniors who might get drafted -- just scanning the scouting reports -- Scott McKillop seems to be a first three rounds kind of guy and Rashaad Duncan will likely be drafted at some point. I think one guy whose stock has improved is C.J. Davis just because he projects at the next level as a center and now he has a half-season of tape at the position to show NFL teams. The only other guy who likely has a chance is Derek Kinder, but he's going to have to show at work-outs that he is all the way back from his injury (i.e. run fast and do the shuttle drills well). The three senior specialists, kicker Conor Lee, long-snapper Mark Estermyer and punter Dave Brytus will certainly find their way into NFL camps and have a shot to make teams but those positions don't usually get drafted so they may all three be free agents.

As for the hair band reunion tours --- well this is casual Friday, so why not -- I know Warrant is still touring, and with the entire original cast if I am not mistaken. In fact, their behind the scenes DVD came out yesterday. I've read that Firehouse is considering another tour and we can assume that Poison will pull it all together for a reunion as they have been going strong. A lot of those bands had tours in 2008, like Styper, Twisted Sister, Skid Row and Tesla is putting the finishing touches on a tour, but they are on their west coast swing -- so we shall see what 2009 brings. I know this: The ones that do tour will likely come through Pittsburgh as there are still plenty of Trans Am-driving, big hair lovin', mullet-wearing 80's rockers walking around, though when you see them at these concerts you realize that they, like the performers, are about 30 or 40 pounds heavier and all that partying generally hasn't been kind to the way they've aged!!! And just for the record, I'm currently reading the book "The Dirt" which is a great book about the life and times of Motley Crue, who is perhaps the best of the hair bands, certainly one of the most important ones. A tremendous read and available dirt cheap at yard sales and book graveyards all over the country???..

Q: Paul, relative to the Q&A last week about the quarterbacks, everyone, including you wants to write-off Kevan Smith even though he has tremendous physical talents.Isn't it possible that he just needs more experience because of the time he missed in high school? Is there any chance he needs more practice time and another spring to develop?

Rich Dolson, Shrewsbury, Pa.

ZEISE: I have never written the kid off -- it would be foolish to write a kid with that kind of physical talent off. And yes, more experience would help -- but when do you suggest he gets experience and at what expense? I mean, should coaches put him in there and live or die with whatever happens? He was brought in as a project -- not because he doesn't have ability, he certainly is the most physically gifted of all the quarterbacks including Greg Cross -- but he only had like ten games of experience in high school and played in a system where he really was never coached to be a quarterback in a pro-style system. And it is clear, his biggest problem is, when he gets on the field he panics and in turn he makes bad decisions. That's not a surprise given his lack of experience and it is not a criticism of the kid -- he's a good kid, he's a great student, he works hard but the reality is, he just hasn't been able to get it done when given the chance. Now, the good news is he is only a redshirt sophomore which means, he will be around and still have a year of eligibility left in 2010 spring camp when there is a wide open quarterback competition as Bill Stull will have graduated. That means he has another year and half to continue to refine his skills and a year and a half to learn the offense and become a better player. With his talent, anything is possible and if he can bring it all together, I think he can become a good one. He's just not close right now.
