President-elect and rock star Barack Obama has inspired all kinds of songs, dances and whatnot. In addition to the new Will.i.am joint, "It's a New Day" that debuted last week, Chi-Town homeboy Common leaked his song "Changes," from his new CD, "Universal Mind Control," reports Eurweb.com.
He wrote it during the campaign, but Tuesday's win by Mr. Obama prompted him to leak the song.
We listened to it, and it's an inspiring little ditty.
But Common ain't no supporter-come-lately. The conscious rapper got on board the Obama train four years ago, even giving him a shout-out in a song.
And poet extraordinaire Maya Angelou has been inspired to write a poem for the new prez.
She's not being commissioned like she was by Bill Clinton, for whom she wrote the glorious "On Pulse of Morning," but she's writing one for Mr. Obama anyway.
Speaking of inspiration, Sir Paul McCartney is soooo happy about Obama becoming the 44th president that he'd like to serenade Obama's wife, Michelle.
At least that's what he said backstage at the MTV Europe Music Awards last week.
"I hope to get the opportunity to sing ... to his wife. I have a little song ready for her," he said.
Sir Paul added, "I think sincerely he is the man for the job. I think it is a legendary occasion, and I wish him the very best."
UK's Daily Mail is reporting that Britney Spears had to rush her baby boy, Jayden, to the hospital after the child became ill Sunday afternoon.
Little Jayden seemed "vague" and "unresponsive," so the family drove him to a hospital near their Kentwood, La., home.
The 2-year-old was kept overnight for observation.
TMZ is reporting that the tot ate something that didn't agree with him and will probably be discharged today.
Pittsburgh fave Sienna Miller reached an out-of-court settlement in her lawsuit against two British tabloids.
The Sun and the News of the World must pay the actress 35,000 pounds, about $55,000 in American money.
We'd take it.
Sienna sued the two newspapers because she was tired of the intrusive photos and articles.
A letter from the newspapers' publisher News Group Newspapers' senior lawyer states, "We acknowledged that on the specific facts and circumstances of this case you had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect of the information and the photographs that we published."
The reason the tabs went all stalkarazzi on Miss Sienna was because of her relationship with the married Balthazar Getty, which is now kaput.
That's right. Sienna is on the loose once again. No word on whether Mr. Getty went back to his wife and kiddies.
While we're on the subject of breakups, let's just inform you that Evan Rachel Wood is no longer with Marilyn Manson.
The 21-year-old actress (is she really 21? -- because the picture we saw makes her look 20 years older), said she and the crazy-eyed rocker decided to take some time apart to focus on their careers.
Whew!
Now our souls can rest easy.
Hey, we couldn't make it to the Lenny Williams/Howard Hewett concert, so we want to hear from anybody who did.
Drop us an e-mail and let us know how the two soul brothers put it down!
