Q: When do we as Pitt fans say enough is enough? The coaching staff is too experienced and too well-paid to continue to make stupid, dumb calls game after game. There was the fake field goal pass, the Pat Bostick roll out on third-and-1 -- what gives? And then, Phil Bennett can shut down a one dimensional Navy offense, but not a one dimensional Rutgers?

Bob Fitzmaurice, St. Pete Beach, Fla.

Zeise: My advice would be to relax and watch how the season plays out. I said this after the Bowling Green loss when some were predicting 1-11, I said this after the South Florida win when some were predicting 11-1. There is no way to know what is going to happen until it actually does. Yes, last Saturday wasn't the finest hour -- but there are five more weekends and from what we've seen thus far, the coaching staff has gotten it right five times and wrong twice. That tells me that things are not nearly as bad they might appear. So again, my best advice is to sit back, let the season play out and then we can decide at the end of the season if we need to say enough is enough.

Q: Can these problems be corrected in the short term?

Don Scarsella, Newark, Ohio

Zeise: Yes, absolutely, though this might not be the best week --- with Notre Dame and Jimmy Clausen across the field from you -- to be trying to solve secondary issues and fixing your pass defense. But the bottom line is there are a number of things Pitt didn't do very well that it had done well through six games. I think a big part of the problem was simple as strategy and a failure to adjust in a timely manner. And after having go through that, I'm sure this coaching staff is smart enough to make the corrections and make sure that if Notre Dame beats them, it won't be because Pitt plays poorly but rather because the Irish simply are either better than they are or just play a better game.

Q: I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic but I just can't see another perfect storm of awful defense, bad play calling in key times, critical turnovers and devastating injuries all occurring in one singular game again. So in your opinion, was the Rutgers game one of those throw away the tapes and pretend this never happened type of game or should everyone be real concerned that what happened?

Ryan Tomshek, Mount Joy, Pa.

Zeise: This is the worst answer I can give because most people don't want to hear it: Time will tell. It is a simple as that. I happen to think it was simply a bad week at the office for all parties involved and the team will move forward, learn from it and move on. I simply believe there are too many good players and too many good coaches over there at Pitt to think that this is going to go all the way south again.
