NBA commissioner David Stern said the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the host of the 2010 NBA All-Star Game.
Stern announced the plans yesterday in a ceremony outside the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas, where the Dallas Mavericks play. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also attended the ceremony. The game will be played at the stadium Feb. 14, 2010. The all-rookie game and Saturday night festivities will take place a day earlier at the American Airlines Center.
Lakers
Los Angeles signed center Andrew Bynum, 21, to a contract extension, removing the possibility he would become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nets
New Jersey exercised a fourth-year contract option on center Josh Boone and third-year options on forwards Sean Williams and Yi Jianlian. The Nets also declined to pick up the fourth-year option on guard Maurice Ager.
Pistons
Detroit took another step toward ensuring it will have players to replace their aging frontcourt. The Pistons and Jason Maxiell agreed on a $20 million, four-year contract extension. Maxiell, 25, is in the final year of his contract and decided to stick with the team that drafted him 26th overall in 2005 instead of becoming a free agent after the season.
