CBS has crossed "The Ex List" off its schedule.
The hour-long comedy about a woman searching for true love among her ex-boyfriends has been pulled from the network lineup, CBS said Monday. Its Friday time slot will be filled this week by a rerun of "NCIS."
There was no comment from the network on whether the freshman show might return. It was a weak link for CBS, which has gotten off to a strong start with returning shows including "NCIS" and some newcomers, most notably "The Mentalist."
"The Ex List" had aired four times. Last week's show dropped about 1 million viewers from the previous week, bringing the total audience to less than 5.5 million. (Associated Press)
"Law & Order" will be back in its familiar Wednesday-night home in a couple of weeks as NBC looks to shore up its schedule on that night.
The venerable crime drama, which had been scheduled to begin its 19th season in early 2009, will have its season premiere at 10 p.m. Nov. 5. NBC is also moving " Life" to Wednesdays, where it will be sandwiched between "Knight Rider" and "Law & Order," and is shipping the struggling " Lipstick Jungle" to Friday nights.
The network also says it will hold off on the premiere of its reality series "Momma's Boys" until Dec. 16, following the finale of " The Biggest Loser: Families." The new start date is the third for the Ryan Seacrest-produced dating show, which was initially set to premiere Oct. 29, then was moved to Nov. 12.
"Momma's Boys" will move one more time after its premiere, settling into its regular 9 p.m. Monday time slot on Dec. 22, where it will give "Heroes" a break for a few weeks. (Zap2it.com)
Having done well with a remake of "Beverly Hills 90210" this season, the CW network is considering a remake of that show's spinoff, "Melrose Place."
The CW and the studio CBS Paramount Network Television are exploring whether to put the remake in development for the 2009-10 TV season, network spokesman Paul Hewitt said Tuesday.
The new "Beverly Hills 90210" isn't the cultural phenomenon of the original, but it has improved the CW's performance among women age 18-to-34 by 46 percent over its Tuesday time slot a year ago. That's the youthful audience that the CW is trying to attract to establish itself.
"Melrose Place" aired on Fox from 1992-99, a prime-time soap about a mythical Los Angeles locale. (AP)
