Little Bites: Cafe Allegro closing
Thursday, October 23, 2008

• After 22 years, Cafe Allegro on the South Side is closing its doors. Although it was a difficult decision, owner Antoinette Cardamone is ready to take a break and spend more time with family. Chef and partner Joe Nolan will continue to co-manage Club Cafe, which is located across the street from the restaurant and is owned by Cardamone's brother, Marco. Cardomone expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Cafe Allegro's hardworking staff, many of whom have been with the restaurant for years. Many devoted diners will certainly miss Cardomone's smiling face greeting them at the door, as well as Chef Nolan's creative take on Mediterranean cuisine. The staff plans to serve dinner through Nov. 1. If you'd like a chance to say goodbye, call 412-481-7788 for reservations.
