A Pittsburgh-area physician died Saturday in a 60-foot fall while climbing the east face of Seneca Rocks in West Virginia, police said this afternoon.
The victim was Amy Ruth Stine, 49, according to a dispatcher with the West Virginia State Police.
She said Dr. Stine was rappeling when climbing equipment broke loose or malfunctioned.
Dr. Stine, whose voter registration record listed her home as Ohio Township, had a family practice based on Perry Highway in McCandless.
The dispatcher said Dr. Stine died in Pendleton County, W.Va., which is about 200 miles from Pittsburgh. Seneca Rocks is Pendleton County's landmark attraction.
