A man was critically wounded last night when he was shot several times in the 500 block of Johnston Avenue in Hazelwood.
The man, whose name and age were not released, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian after the shooting, which happened about 9 p.m., city dispatchers said.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Police said the shots were fired after a fight between two men but were still investigating what prompted the gunfire.
Neighbors at the scene said they heard at least eight gunshots.
They watched from their porches as police investigated the scene, which spanned for several blocks into the 400 block of Johnstown Avenue.
City dispatchers said police were looking for a pickup truck that fled from the scene toward the South Side that might have been involved in the shooting. No arrests were made last night.
