Saturday, October 11, 2008

The Duquesne University board of directors yesterday unanimously agreed to extend the contract of President Charles Dougherty through 2016.

Board Chairman P. David Pappert said the board is pleased with the growth under his leadership.

"We have realized improvements in all areas of university life and are eager to build on this momentum as President Dougherty leads Duquesne on a path of continued accomplishments benefiting our students," Mr. Pappert said.

A university press release noted, among other things, improved rankings, a more selective admissions process, high freshman enrollments and strong retention rates.

Dr. Dougherty became president in 2001.
