Obscenity trial for Calif. porn maker set for March
Wednesday, October 08, 2008

After dragging along for the last five years, the obscenity case against a California company that makes graphic pornography has been scheduled.

Jury selection in the case against Extreme Associates is scheduled to begin March 16 before U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster.

The owners of the company, Rob Zicari and his wife, Janet Romano, were indicted in August 2003 on 10 counts, including conspiracy, mailing obscenity and distributing it online. They were charged after postal inspectors in Pittsburgh ordered the videos. The films depict women being tortured, raped and murdered.

The case was dismissed by Judge Lancaster in January 2005 but was reinstated by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in December of that year.
