SPECIAL NOTES

Pittsburgh festivities A number of street closings to occur Saturday, Oct. 11, starting Downtown at 9 a.m. for yearly African-American Heritage Day parade. The annual Columbus Day parade will close streets in Bloomfield starting at 11 a.m. Finally, Penn Avenue will be closed noon-2 a.m. between Ninth and Seventh streets for Pittsburgh Cultural Trust annual "One Night Stand" gala. Port Authority bus riders advised to expect bus delays, changes.

INTERSTATES

I-79, Greene County Lane closings around Ruff Creek and Waynesburg interchanges for $3.2 million resurfacing, minor repairs.

I-79, Allegheny County Single-lane restrictions possible in both directions this weekend between the Ohio River and I-279 junction, Franklin Park, as contractor continues to close out two-year rebuilding project.

Parkway North/I-279 Outbound mainline traffic is shifted to the HOV lanes starting one-quarter mile south of Exit 11 at McKnight-Evergreen Road. The HOV ramp to Perrysville park-n-ride lot is closed. Current phase of work to end late this month.

Parkway East/I-376 No mainline work this weekend because of activities related to Pittsburgh's 250th birthday but some ramps are restricted in the work zone between the Edgewood-Swissvale and Monroeville interchanges. This week, overnight lane closures in the outbound direction.

Parkway West, Robinson Single- and double-lane closures up to 6 a.m. Monday from 1,000 feet south of Montour Run Road to the Route 60/Business Route 60 junction for paving. On- and off-ramps closed at Montour Run Road as well as off-ramp to Business 60. Lane and ramp closures to continue all week, weather permitting, starting 8 p.m.

TUNNELS

Liberty Tunnels -- Outbound (southbound) tunnel closed 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights through February for $5.3 million in repairs, new portals. Detour via McArdle Roadway to Route 51/Route 19. Inbound tunnel not affected.

STATE, U.S. HIGHWAYS

Route 19, Marshall Ramp to I-79 south closed this weekend until 6 a.m. Monday, along with lane closures on Route 19 for paving.

Route 22, Westmoreland County In the New Alexandria-Derry Township area, traffic has been switched to new eastbound lanes east of Rushwood Road but two-way traffic continuing through construction zone west of Rushwood Road. State Park Road intersection has reopened.

Route 28, Etna area Year-long project under way to improve outbound Route 28 from Etna to the Highland Park Bridge. Some restrictions around the Route 28-8 interchange.

Route 28, Shaler Single lane closures, traffic shifts on southbound side past the rockfall area south of Route 910.

Route 30, Hempfield area Night paving continues on project between Route 136 and Route 119 interchanges. Route 3103 overpass to be closed for one week for deck work

Route 60, Beaver County Single lane through the Beaver-Midland interchange area through late November for various improvements, upgrades. Under the same contract, PennDOT building new ramps at Monaca-Shippenport interchange.

OTHER ROADS

Boulevard of the Allies, Oakland Closed outbound east of the Parkway East entrance for interchange reconstruction in Forbes-Fifth Avenue vicinity.

Penn Avenue, East Liberty Traffic shifts, restrictions on project covering 1.2 miles of Fifth Avenue/Route 8 and Penn Avenue east of Penn Circle.

MAJOR BRIDGES

62nd Street Bridge Repairs and facelift that have restricted traffic since early March are to be completed in early November.

Rachel Carson/9th Street Bridge -- Closed Monday at least through the end of the month while the county makes deck, minor structural repairs. At least one sidewalk will remain open. Thirteen bus routes detour via the Andy Warhol-7th Street Bridge.

Rankin Bridge One lane of traffic in each direction while the bridge undergoes a two-year rehabilitation.
