Heinauer's passes spark North Hills' win
Saturday, October 04, 2008

North Hills rode senior quarterback Justin Heinauer's passing to beat Seneca Valley at the Raiders' own game last night.

Heinauer threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Indians to a 52-21 win against visiting Seneca Valley in a Northern Six Conference game.

North Hills (5-1, 2-0) scored the final 35 points after Seneca Valley (3-3, 0-2) had taken a 17-14 lead three minutes into the third quarter.

"We just opened it up in the second half because Seneca Valley was playing 10 guys in the box," Indians coach Jack McCurry said. "We had to throw on first down, and we hit them. It was Heinauer's best game."

Heinauer, 9 for 11 for 196 yards in the second half, entered the game with a respectable 633 yards passing and five touchdowns. But it was Seneca Valley's passing game that was heralded.

The Raiders' C.J. Brown is a Maryland recruit who led the WPIAL in passing coming into the game with 1,286 yards and nine touchdowns. He threw for 256 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another score -- but had two interceptions to double his season total.

"C.J. Brown was hit a lot and had to scramble, but he made some plays," McCurry said. "Our defense played well enough to win."

The Indians' Elijah David rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and Lloyd Phillips had five catches for 120 yards and two second-half touchdowns.

After the starting the season 3-1, the Raiders have lost their past two games by a combined score of 108-35.
