AIGA design organization presented the AIGA Fellow Award to local ThoughtForm Inc. principals Reed Agnew, Don Moyer and Grant Smith during its fifth annual Design Legends Gala in New York City.
Major Gen. Gale Pollock, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, received the 2008 Agatha Hodgins Award, the highest honor given by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Mr. Pollock is the executive director of the Center for Ocular Regeneration and Vision Restoration at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Rajiv Jain, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System's chief of saff and MRSA program director, received a Citizen Services Medal for developing and leading an initiative that is eliminating methicillin-resistant staphylococcus areus infections throughout the world. The medal recognizes a federal employee for a significant contribution to the nation in activities related to social services.
Robert O'Gara, professor and director of the Integrated Marketing Communications Program at Point Park University, has won IABC/Pittsburgh's 2008 Business Communicator of the Year Award. Mr. O'Gara will receive it at IABC/Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle Awards event Tuesday in Duquesne University's Power Center.

Financial Service Standards LLC received a signature award for its 401(k) Service Solution Plan Sponsor Literature from the Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America. The annual PSCA Signature Awards recognize excellence in plan communication and investment education in 401(k) plans.
Grogan Graffam P.C. said Hal D. Coffey was selected as a "2008 Lawyer on the Fast Track" by the Legal Intelligencer and the Pennsylvania Law Weekly, an award to honor lawyers under 40 deemed future leaders of Pennsylvania's legal community. Mr. Coffey is an associate in the business transactions practice group and the coordinator of settlement services of the firm's wholly owned subsidiary, Grogan Graffam Settlement Co.
The Parental Stress Center said Antonio Dias will receive its 2008 Friend of the Family Award, given annually to one who helps prevent child abuse and neglect and strengthens families in and around Pittsburgh. Mr. Dias will receive it at PSC's 33rd Anniversary Family Celebration on Nov. 15 in LeMont Restaurant.
Two projects designed by Bradley Brown Design Group have been selected as winners in the 2008 American Graphic Design Awards competition. The 2007 annual report for FHLBank Pittsburgh and the Shenandoah Cabinetry catalog for Virginia-based American Woodmark Corp. received Certificates of Excellence. The annual competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine to celebrate the best and brightest in graphic design.
Louis Plung, vice chair, United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh, was honored with the UJF's 2008 Gerald S. Ostrow Volunteer of the Year Award. Mr. Plung is a volunteer leader with significant service to the community who has fostered partnerships among the UJF and its beneficiary agencies.
