Why: Homewood Cemetery Walking Tours sponsored by the Homewood Cemetery Historical Fund. Tomorrow at 11 a.m., check out the "Taking It With You" hour-long tour, which focuses on Section 14, the final resting place for the Heinz family, the Benedums and several notable Mellons. On Oct. 11, also at 11 a.m., is "Angels & Obelisks" a 90-minute tour on lesser-known Pittsburghers and various monuments throughout the grounds. For reservations and coming schedule, call 412-421-1822.
The cemetery is a peaceful place to walk, and its many hills can provide quite a workout. Deer are plentiful, but your canine companions are not allowed.
Fun Factor: 8, it's not quite Père-Lachaise, the grand cemetery in Paris that's home to Frederic Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison, but it's beautiful and fascinating at the same time.
