Friday, October 03, 2008

Beaver (5-0, 5-0) vs. Beaver Falls (5-0, 4-0), 7:30 p.m. today, Reeves Stadium, Geneva College: Beaver Falls is ranked No. 1 and Beaver No. 3 in WPIAL Class AA. This showdown features two of the WPIAL's leading rushers in Beaver Falls' Cody Cook (692 yards) and Beaver's Jake Nardone (855 yards).

Shady Side Academy (5-0, 5-0) at Ford City (5-0, 5-0), 7:30 p.m. today, Ford City Athletic Field: This game might well decide the Allegheny Conference title. Shady Side Academy gave up only 14 points in the first four games, but 24 last week to Burrell. Which team has success running the ball will be the difference.

Clairton (5-0, 3-0) at Char-Houston (5-0, 3-0), 7:30 p.m. today, Buccaneer Stadium: One night before Pittsburgh's 250th birthday celebration, there might be more fireworks in this one, as the top two offenses in WPIAL Class A are on display. No. 2-ranked Clairton averages 47.8 and No. 4 Char-Houston 38.4.
