Hazen and Sawyer, Environmental Engineers & Scientists signed a long-term lease for 3,109 square feet at 11 Stanwix St., with plans to increase its staff. Kim Ford of Cresa Partners represented the tenant and Rob Geiger of Grant Street Associates represented the landlord, Rugby Realty.

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council offers monthly tours of its Downtown teaching facility at 411 Seventh Ave. to educate the public about how adult literacy programs affect the lives of thousands. The Forensic Services Group of Urish Popeck & Co. LLC entered into a joint venture with The Whitaker Group LLC to jointly service Urish Popeck's expanding fraud, forensic and litigation services practice. A proprietary Forensic Examination Lab will help secure and maintain evidence in-house, ensuring integrity of the chain of custody. The Whitaker Group specializes in investigation, security services and management consulting to public and private corporations and the insurance industry.

United States Steel Corp. and Worthington Industries Inc. agreed to expand and modify their current Worthington Specialty Processing joint venture in Jackson, Mich. U.S. Steel will contribute ProCoil Co. LLC, its steel processing subsidiary in Canton, Mich., and Worthington Industries will contribute Worthington Steel Taylor, its steel processing subsidiary in Taylor, Mich., to the expanded joint venture. Both companies expect to close the transaction early this month. Worthington Industries will own 51 percent and U.S. Steel will own 49 percent of the joint venture, with Worthington continuing as managing partner.

New Business/New Offices

Fifth Third Bank opened its newest full-service location in the Pittsburgh region at 517 East Ohio St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212. This is Fifth Third Bank's 13th office in the region and first on the North Side.

Contracts

Sewickley Graphics & Design Inc. landed new accounts of Mr. John of Pittsburgh and Tri-Boro Trailer -- brand identity, Web site design and development, signage, stationery items and brochures; HAP Enterprises Inc. -- brand identity and Web site design and development; and Keegan Electric Co. -- brand identity and Web site design and development.

Kimball signed a contract to deploy a state-of-the-art system supporting the Hospital Emergency Planning Initiative, which supports the broad efforts of the U.S. Army's Armament Research Development and Engineering Center under Project National Shield. The HEPI system will help establish interoperable communications between local first responders and public health systems to enhance rapid response in the event of a terrorist attack or national disaster.
