Maj. Gen. (ret.) Gale S. Pollock, former deputy surgeon general of the Army, joined the UPMC Eye Center as executive director of the nation's first Center for Ocular Regeneration and Vision Restoration.

Dana H. Bovbjerg joined the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute as director of the biobehavioral medicine program.
