A 21-year-old Butler man was killed last night when his SUV went off the road and crashed into a utility tension cable and a tree.

Matthew Joseph Kapp was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer westbound along Old Route 422 in Clearfield Township just before midnight when he lost control, according to state police. The vehicle left the road and hit the cable, then the tree. Mr. Kapp was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, where he died.

State police are investigating.
