Friday, September 26, 2008

A man wanted for a Monday night killing at a North Point Breeze gas station surrendered to Allegheny County sheriff's deputies this evening.

Jesse Engram, 19, of the East End, is charged with homicide in the slaying of Korey Johnson, 20.

Mr. Johnson was shot while in the driver's seat of a purple GMC Yukon parked at a Sunoco A-Plus gas station at Bruston and Penn avenues.

Sheriff's Lt. Jack Kearney said Mr. Engram turned himself in at the Municipal Courts Building around 6 p.m.

He was then turned in for questioning to Pittsburgh police, he said.

Investigators issued a warrant for Mr. Engram on Wednesday.

Police have said Mr. Johnson, who died of multiple gunshot wounds, was the intended target in the April killing of 12-year-old Kholen Germany in Wilkinsburg.

Mr. Johnson was a key witness in that case, in which Donald "Tank" Wilson is awaiting trial for murder.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
