Investigators were trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a multi-family home in Coraopolis yesterday.
Coraopolis volunteer Fire Chief Larry Byrge said the call came in at 7 a.m. for a fire at the three-story house on State Avenue that had been divided into several apartments. Chief Byrge said firefighters arrived to find flames already through the roof and coming out of the rear of the building.
He said the structure had "extensive damage, and it appears to be a total loss." Chief Byrge said 10 people were in the house at the time of the fire, including two firefighters who live there. The Red Cross was assisting displaced residents with food, clothing and shelter.
