Highlights: Center girls rally, 3-2

Second-half goals by Brooke Ceccarelli and Megan Hampe elevated Center (6-3-1, 4-1-1) to a come-from-behind 3-2 Section 2 triumph against Sewickley Academy (5-3-1, 4-1-1), the Post-Gazette's No. 6 team in Class AA girls' soccer. It was the Trojans' fourth consecutive win.

Other top girls' game

• Sam Kovarik scored a goal and added five assists to help Class AAA No. 2 Mt. Lebanon (10-1, 6-1) bounce back from its first loss with a 8-1 rout of Trinity (4-7, 2-5) in Section 5.

Girls' golf

Waynesburg's Rachel Rohanna fired an eagle on the 12th hole en route to a 3-under 71, which topped the field at the WPIAL Division I Section 3 individual qualifier at Murrysville Golf Course.

Football

Gateway football players Dorian Bell and Corey Brown have been selected to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio Jan. 3. The two Ohio State recruits will play for the East team, which will be coached by Gateway's Terry Smith. The game includes 90 of the top players in the country and is televised live by NBC.
