Great Race alert -- Thousands of runners and walkers will take to Pittsburgh streets beginning at 9:30 a.m. next Sunday for the 31st Richard S. Caliguiri-City of Pittsburgh Great Race. It will start at Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street, Oakland, and come down the Boulevard of the Allies to Commonwealth Place, Downtown. Bus service and traffic will be disrupted as early as 7 a.m. but should be back to normal around noon.
Toll 43 Community Day -- Public has been invited to walk, bicycle or take a bus tour of the first nine miles of a new section of the Mon-Fayette Expressway from Uniontown north toward Brownsville. Events start at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 near Searights Crossroads interchange in Menallen. Info at www.paturnpike.com/MonFaySB.
I-70, Washington County -- Ten-mile resurfacing project under way between Kammerer Exit and I-79 South Junction. Contractor works 8 p.m.-8 a.m. most days, weather permitting.
I-79, Meadowlands -- PennDOT has announced blasting will take place at times along I-79 north as part of ramp construction near Racetrack Road.
Parkway North/I-279 -- Closed inbound around East Ohio Street on the North Side through 5 a.m. Monday for work related to construction of the ramp from Route 28 to I-279 south. Short detour. Also, PennDOT has shifted outbound mainline traffic to the HOV lanes starting one-quarter mile south of Exit 11 at McKnight-Evergreen Road. HOV ramp to Perrysville park-n-ride lot is closed. Current phase of work to last through October.
Parkway East/I-376 -- Closed inbound until up to 6 a.m. Monday from Churchill to Edgewood-Swissvale Interchange for bridge and ramp work. Detour using Route 130, Penn Avenue, Braddock Avenue. All mainline paving is completed.
Parkway West, Robinson -- Single-lane outbound through 6 a.m. Monday from Route 22-30 interchange to Route 60/Business Route 60 junction for paving.
Liberty Tunnels -- Outbound (southbound) tunnel is closed 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights through February for $5.3 million in repairs, new portals. Detour via McArdle Roadway to Route 51/Route 19. Inbound tunnel not affected.
Route 19, Marshall -- Traffic reduced to single lane on ramp from Route 19 to I-79 south through 6 a.m. Monday.
Business Route 22, Monroeville/Wilkins -- Traffic reduced to a single lane in each direction, 9:30 p.m.-9 a.m. weekdays through late October for resurfacing between the Parkway East and Route 48, a total of four miles.
Route 22, Westmoreland County -- Lane restrictions where PennDOT is rebuilding the highway east of New Alexandria.
Route 28, Etna area -- Year-long project under way to improve outbound Route 28 from Etna to the Highland Park Bridge. Some restrictions around the Route 28-8 interchange.
Blackburn Road, Sewickley Heights -- Alternating one-lane traffic that's controlled by signals imposed indefinitely because of subsidence between Thawmont Road and the War Memorial Park entrance.
Boulevard of the Allies, Oakland -- Closed outbound east of the Parkway East entrance for interchange reconstruction.
Penn Avenue, East Liberty -- Traffic shifted from the eastbound lanes to the newly reconstructed inbound lanes, latest phase of the $3.1 million project covering 1.2 miles of Fifth Avenue/Route 8 and Penn Avenue.
Rochester Road, Franklin Park -- PennDOT contractor working 7 p.m.-7 a.m. nightly, paving 1.9 miles between Nicholson and Fairmont Church roads.
62nd Street Bridge -- Repairs and facelift that have restricted traffic since early March are to be completed in early November.
Birmingham Bridge -- All lanes reopened. Repairs to the pier that shifted in an incident last February being repaired under traffic conditions
Rankin Bridge -- One lane of traffic in each direction while the bridge undergoes a two-year rehabilitation.
