A man who owes more than $125,000 in child support was arrested in New Mexico Monday by the U.S. marshals.
Michael Veneziale, 40, of Avalon, left Pennsylvania with his girlfriend, Deborah Timney, 45, of West View, in August, according to Supervisory Deputy Marshal Michael D. Baughman.
Mr. Veneziale was listed by the Allegheny County sheriff's office as its most wanted person for nonpayment of child support. There were two bench warrants against him, including for failing to pay $129,833 in child support and arrearages, and another for failure to appear in court on aggravated assault charges, Mr. Baughman said.
Ms. Timney was wanted for failure to appear in court on larceny and identity theft charges out of Bellvue.
The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force got the case in March, but recently received information that the couple had fled to New Mexico. Officers here sent that tip to marshals in Albuquerque two weeks ago, and they tracked down the couple yesterday.
Ms. Timney was arrested at about 3 p.m. at a restaurant where she was working, and Mr. Veneziale was picked up at a motel across the street.
They are awaiting extradition, Mr. Baughman said.
