Van crash that killed 5 in April ruled an accident

An April crash that killed five people associated with a Bentleyville personal care home has been ruled an accident.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco made the announcement today.

The crash between a tractor trailer and one of the home's vans at Route 136 and Brownlee Road in Somerset Township on April 24 killed three residents of Enhanced Personal Care Home. Also killed were two staff members of the home, including the van driver.

The home's residents were on an outing to the Pittsburgh Zoo when the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m.

Six other occupants of the van and the truck driver were injured.
