Wrestler Kurt Angle found not guilty of DUI
Tuesday, September 09, 2008

Olympic gold medalist and professional wrestler Kurt Angle was found not guilty of driving under the influence and careless driving today.

Allegheny County Judge David Cashman made the ruling in a nonjury trial on charges filed Sept. 28.

Mr. Angle, of Moon, was arrested at his home after officers received a complaint from a witness who said Mr. Angle almost hit her car coming out of the Seashell Bar in Moon.

Mr. Angle's lawyer had challenged the use of a civilian witness as the basis for a prosecution, pointing out that no officer could put Mr. Angle in the vehicle at a specific time -- a crucial element in proving DUI.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
