Mt. Lebanon soccer teams

Deuces are wild with the Mt. Lebanon soccer teams this fall. The boys' and the girls' soccer teams are ranked No. 2 in their WPIAL Class AAA divisions. The boys' next game is tomorrow at Chartiers Valley, and the girls play at home Monday against Ringgold.

Paul Jones, Sto-Rox

He opened eyes last year as a sophomore, throwing for 1,850 yards, third best in the WPIAL. He was 11 of 17 in the season opener. At 6 feet 3, 215 pounds, he is getting interest from Division I colleges. Bishop Canevin will try to slow him down tonight.

Rob Kalkstein, Gateway

He made his 25th start in the football season opener against Penn Hills. A starter since his freshman year, Kalkstein is a junior and one of the most efficient quarterbacks in Class AAAA. Baldwin visits the Gators' swamp tonight.

Anthony Vendemia, Franklin Regional

A senior quarterback, Vendemia made every one of his completions count in the season opener. He completed 3 of 4 passes and all three went for touchdowns at 33, 86 and 50 yards. Next up is Ambridge tomorrow night.

Layne Baggett, Moon

This Layne travels in the lane of success. She is a WPIAL and PIAA champion in track hurdles and also a talented volleyball player, earning all-section honors last season. Moon plays host to Baldwin Tuesday.
