Hall of Fame football player and coach Mike Ditka will finally bring one of his restaurants to the Pittsburgh area.
An Atria's restaurant and tavern in Robinson was closed over the weekend so it can be remodeled into the area's first Mike Ditka's restaurant. The restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-October.
At 6,500 square feet on the first floor of 1 Robinson Plaza, the operators see the restaurant as an anchor for the newly renovated office building. The menu will feature items such as chops, steaks, fresh seafood and the specialty of the house, "Da Pork Chop."
"We saw this as a perfect opportunity to bring an exciting new dining concept to the region and in a prime location ...," said Pat McDonnell, chief executive officer of Restaurant Holdings, in a prepared statement. The North Shore business operates seven other Atria's locations around the region and has been the managing partner for the Ditka's brand since 2001.
Mr. Ditka was born in Carnegie, attended Aliquippa High School and played football for the University of Pittsburgh. His career included both playing and coaching for the Chicago Bears.
