Woman critically injured in Beltzhoover house fire

An elderly woman was critically injured in a fire at her home in the 200 block of Chalfont Street in Beltzhoover yesterday morning.

The woman, Florence Miller, was taken to UPMC Mercy, where she was in critical condition last night.

Autistic man found in wooded area in Butler County

An autistic and mentally retarded man who was reported missing Friday from his Butler County home was found safe yesterday morning, state police said.

Mark Richard Ryan, 23, of Summit, had walked away from his Kaiser Road home at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Mr. Ryan, who walks with a severe limp, had been missing for more than 24 hours before a resident walking his dog heard him calling out from a wooded area off Geibel Road in Clearfield Township around 6:40 a.m., state police said.

Mr. Ryan was not injured.

A man matching Mr. Ryan's description had been seen about 6:55 a.m. Friday on Schuler Road in Clearfield, and again at 8:30 a.m. near Herman and Osche roads, at the border of Summit and Clearfield.
