COLUMBUS -- Terrelle Pryor, arguably the most-hyped football recruit to come out of Western Pennsylvania, started his college career at Ohio State in a big way today, leading the Buckeyes on a long field-goal drive and scoring a touchdown himself on an 18-yard run in his first two series of work in their 43-0 win against Youngstown State.
Entering the game midway through the first quarter to a huge cheer from the Ohio State fans as the replacement for senior starter Todd Boeckman on the Buckeyes' third possession, Pryor directed a 12-play, 51-yard drive that ended with a Ryan Pretorius 31-yard field goal that gave Ohio State a 13-0 lead. Pryor completed all three of his passes for 25 yards and also ran for a 14-yard gain on a quarterback draw.
Pryor again took over for Boeckman on the Buckeyes' third possession of the second half, late in the third quarter. He completed a 10-yard pass to running back Maurice Wells and had runs of 21, 4 and 18 yards, the last good for the touchdown that pushed the Ohio State lead to 40-0.
Pryor's final stats: 4 for 6 for 35 yards as a passer and nine runs for 52 yards, including an 8-yard sack.
Pryor, who led Jeannette High School to WPIAL and PIAA football and basketball championships last season, was considered the country's No. 1 recruit when he picked Ohio State over Michigan and Penn State.
