U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-McCandless, released his first television commercial of the fall campaign Tuesday, a 30-second spot highlighting his efforts to help veterans.

Mr. Altmire, who is finishing his first term, is in a rematch with former Rep. Melissa Hart, R-Bradford Woods.

Ms. Hart, who lost in what many considered an upset two years ago, began running ads in early summer.

The Altmire spot features him talking with area veterans and a voice-over highlighting his accomplishments in veterans affairs, including passing bills to provide tax relief for military families, expanding treatment for soldiers with brain injuries and ensuring that injured soldiers receive their full enlistment bonuses.

It is airing on local network television channels.
