A La Roche College student who collapsed Monday died from coronary anomaly, a congenital heart defect, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said last night.

Michael Bird, 19, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was playing basketball at the college when he collapsed Monday night.

He was taken to UPMC Passavant, where he was pronounced dead at 11:26 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
