Judith A. Swigart, currently an assistant superintendent of Nazareth Area School District, was elected superintendent of the Greater Latrobe School District at a special board meeting Monday night.

Mrs. Swigart, who will end her tenure with the Nazareth district Sept. 29, is a graduate of Derry Area High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received her master's degree in secondary education from Lehigh University. The board gave her a four-year contract with a starting salary of $135,000, the district said.

She replaces Dr. William Stavisky, who will serve as acting superintendent until her term begins.
