WPTT-AM 1360 changes over to a mixture of local and syndicated financial advice and call-in programs Sept. 1, when its new call letters will become WMNY.
Last week, after the Renda Broadcasting station decided to go to an all-business format, it said goodbye to Lynn Cullen, who had hosted her three-hour program on WPTT for a decade. The new WMNY will include "American Entrepreneur" from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and Saturday mornings. "Polka Review," hosted by George Almasi, remains part of the mix.
Alexis Allen, 14, has been raffling Jonas Brothers' concert tickets to raise awareness for the Blue Lion Foundation, a charity she founded in December 2007. Its long-term goal is to build a medical center in Haiti, but the Shady Side Academy student also encourages good deeds at home. Teens who entered an online raffle were encouraged to sign up as volunteers during the Thanksgiving holidays to deliver food to low-income families.
When winners of the tickets to the Tuesday concert at Post-Gazette Pavilion are announced at 2 p.m. today at a picnic at North Park's Lakeview Pavilion, an additional pair of tickets will be given away for fans who prefer to register on site. More information: bluelionfoundation.org.
