83-year-old homicide suspect waives case to court
Thursday, August 21, 2008

An 83-year-old Penn Hills man charged in the fatal shooting of his 62-year-old stepson during a domestic dispute at their home Aug. 8 yesterday waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will stand trial.

John A. Latimer of Lisa Drive, who was held without bond in the Allegheny County Jail, will seek his release while he awaits trial, said defense attorney Donald Turner.

Deputy District Attorney Mark Tranquilli said his office does not oppose house arrest with electronic monitoring for Mr. Latimer.

Mr. Latimer is charged with homicide in the shooting of Roy C. Wright during an argument.
