Two Beaver County men arrested with arsenal
Sunday, August 17, 2008

Police in Beaver County arrested two men today they accused of stockpiling a weapons arsenal.

Franklin Township police summoned the Allegheny County Bomb Squad this morning to assist in safely securing the Fire Street residence of Dean Alan Huzinec, 47. He and a friend, Dean Timothy Eakin, 43, who had no home address, were arraigned and taken to the Beaver County Jail on multiple weapons-related charges. Mr. Huzinec also was accused of drug offenses.

A police affidavit said Mr. Huzinec was a convicted felon initially found in illegal possession of a gun by an officer. After a search warrant was obtained for his resident, police found additional weapons, "an extreme amount of ammunition," and black power, smokeless powder and fireworks, according to the affidavit.

Among the weapons were "homemade incendiary devices and military-type incendiary devices" and "various signs depicting the placing of booby traps," police said. They also alleged they found illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
