Q: My question is with selecting the starting quarterback. Penn State has recruited some highly regarded prospects in the past, yet they do not appear to develop a quarterback that has been in the system for a few years who will be given the starting assignment. A prime example was Michael Robinson and now it appears to be Pat Devlin. Why do you feel this happens?

Bob Monroe, Lexington, Ohio

MUSSELMAN: It's no secret, Joe Paterno generally rewards seniors who have been in the system for a few years and have paid their dues.

Darryl Clark is a senior has been in the Penn State system for a few years. Devlin, a redshirt sophomore, also expects to get some playing time early in the year.
