FUNDRAISERS

Peters -- The annual Achieva Million Dollar Golf Outing will be held Aug. 25 at Valley Brook Country Club, 869 Hidden Valley Road. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by brunch at 10:30 and a shotgun start at 11:45. Five golfers will be chosen randomly to participate in the million dollar hole-in-one contest. Upper St. Clair -- Washington Hospital Foundation's annual Ladies Golf Classic will be held Aug. 18 at St. Clair Country Club. A shotgun start is at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $235. Nongolfers can play bridge at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $65. Dinner and silent auctions will be part of the program. For information, call 724-223-3875.

HEALTH

Washington -- Washington Hospital will offer the 50-plus Mature Driving Program sponsored by AARP from 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow and Tuesday at the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center, 240 Wellness Way. Upon completion, participants may qualify for an automobile insurance premium discount; participants need to check with their insurance agent for eligibility. Fee is $10 per person. Washington -- Living Each Day support group for cancer patients and their families meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month in occupational therapy on the fourth floor of Washington Hospital. To register, call 724-223-7100.

HOSPITALS

Upper St. Clair -- St. Clair Hospital, 1000 Bower Hill Road, will offer community health programs on a variety of topics. They include sessions on weight loss, mothers and daughters, infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation, diabetes and more. Call 412-942-5895.

LIBRARIES

Monongahela -- An heirloom-quality Dandy Star quilt will be raffled Sept. 1 at Monongahela Area Library, 831 Main St. Tickets are $2 each. All proceeds benefit the library. Storytime will host magician Jason Christopher, "Magic of Reading" at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Call 724-258-5409.

RECREATION

Nottingham -- Washington County Department of Parks & Recreation will offer these programs at Mingo Creek County Park, shelter 4:

• Needle and yarn craft workshop, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, in conjunction with the annual covered-dish picnic. The craft project will be a watermelon-colored beaded bracelet; supplies will be provided. Picnic participants are to bring a covered-dish item or dessert. Fee is $4 per person.

• Snakes Alive educational program, 7 p.m. Thursday. Presented by staff of the Oglebay Institute's Schrader Environmental Education Center, the session will offer participants the chance to see, touch, hold and learn more about snakes, including old wives tales. Live specimens of timber rattlesnakes and a northern copperhead will be available. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

SPORTS

Canonsburg/North Strabane -- Canonsburg Lady Knights Fastpitch Softball, a traveling ball team, will hold tryouts for ages 14 and younger, and 12 and younger, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in North Strabane Intermediate/Borland Manor Fields.
