Toby's right

When Toby Keith says, "I don't think anyone should listen to what stupid celebrities say," I couldn't agree more ("Right-Wrong Guy," July 31). I'm so tired of Hollywood types, celebrities, stupid rappers, etc., acting as if their opinion is of any more value than the squirrel I'm watching run up the tree in my backyard.

By the way, Toby's best stuff was (at least to me) about 15 years ago when he first came on the scene.

Gloomy weather

I agree with Therese McKenzie's letter to Feedback (July 31) regarding the release of Valerie Abati from KDKA. I, too, will miss her weather reports. She was always upbeat and didn't have the gloom and doom attitude that most of the meteorologists have on the Pittsburgh channels. Her forecasts were precise and to the point without scaring the hell out of everybody.

KDKA seems to be reluctant to give the real reason for letting her go. All I know is that it was sudden and I don't recall them even giving her a chance to give one last forecast in order for her to thank all of her listeners for her support. In most cases, it's difficult to like a TV weatherperson, but this one I liked. I hope that Ms. Abati finds another position with a TV station that shows a little more class.

Concerned listener

I am becoming genuinely concerned. What has happened to our beloved afternoon talk show host Fred Honsberger on KDKA? I can't remember the last time I saw him on his TV show and now he's not even on the radio.

Has the search for the truth ended? Will we ever find out what happened to the WMDs, the reason we went to war at the peril of so many of our brave young men and women, who will never return or have been seriously wounded?

And, let us not forget the Iraqis' losses, which are probably impossible to estimate. The search for the truth must not end or even falter. Say it ain't so, Baghdad Fred.

Editor's note: Fred Honsberger is taking time off because of a fractured shoulder and other health issues. He is expected to return to the air.
