Longtime Mt. Lebanon police chief retiring, going to CMU

After 28 years of service to the Mt. Lebanon police force, Chief Thomas Ogden will retire to accept a position as chief of police for Carnegie Mellon University.

Chief Ogden, who has been head of the municipality's force since 1999, had been eligible for full retirement since January 2007. He holds a master's degree in public policy and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. His retirement is effective Sept. 7.

He is only the sixth officer to serve as Mt. Lebanon chief since 1940.
