By George, he got it: Due to our heavy workload, we missed a recent appearance by former heavyweight boxing champ and heavyweight pitchman George Foreman on Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show on ABC, but the Los Angeles Times reports that Kimmel asked Foreman how he kept up with his five sons, who were all named George. Said Foreman: "Originally, they had nicknames. I can't remember them, but they had nicknames." Foreman eventually remembered one nickname. "The one who was supposed to be the last one, we called 'Red,' after a stoplight." Thanking us for bringing this to your attention is optional, but cheering Foreman for remembering at least one of his son's nickname is not.
General information: Former Army linebacker Caleb Campbell, just a day from his first practice with the Detroit Lions, was instead recalled to active duty. By now, nearly everybody worth their military stripes knows that. But The Seattle Times' Dwight Perry took the story in a different direction, adding that Mel Kiper Jr., reporting from the Army's war room, second-guessed the generals for not taking him earlier. Wish we had said that first.
An X Games contestant perhaps: A pet dog in China, reports ananova.com, is so hooked on skateboarding he has scrapped his daily walk so he can practice. We can't make these things up.
