WVU eighth, Penn State 22nd in coaches' poll

West Virginia is ranked No. 8 and Penn State No. 22 in the USA Today Top 25 coaches' preseason poll, which was released Friday morning.

Michigan, led by former Mountaineers' coach Rich Rodriguez, is ranked No. 24. Pitt was among the schools that also received votes and is at No. 33.

Georgia is the top-ranked team, collecting 22 first-place votes, followed by Southern California and Ohio State.

West Virginia finished 11-2 and sixth in the final coaches' poll a year ago, while Penn State ended up 9-4 and ranked No. 25. Pitt was 5-7 last season and unranked.
