Highmark Foundation grants money to nonprofits

The Highmark Foundation granted nearly $1.7 million yesterday to three local nonprofits.

It issued $175,125 over three years to the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy to expand its Pittsburgh Model educational program to seven counties and across the Internet. Strong Women Strong Girls received $141,558 over two years to add two additional mentoring sites for girls in grades three through five. Over 18 months, Meadville Medical Center's Mind-Body Wellness Center will use $98,838 for a program for overweight adolescents.
