A warm breeze on a beautiful summer evening at the Senator John Heinz History Center provided the perfect setting for the third annual "Remembering the History" Negro League All-Star Gala. The three-day event, hosted by the Josh Gibson Foundation, recognizes the accomplishments and contribution of the Negro Leagues and included a VIP reception at PNC Park Highmark Legacy Square and a chance for youth to meet Negro League players at the Ammons Recreation Center in the Hill District. Hall of Fame inductee Juan Marichal was the keynote speaker for last Saturday's black-tie gala, which also included the presentation of college scholarships to several local students. ESPN anchor Jay Harris was the emcee.
