A Latrobe woman was killed early today when she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree in Mount Pleasant, the Westmoreland County coroner said.

Sonya Lynn Purcell, 40, of Route 981, had been driving south on Greensburg-Mount Pleasant Road at 1:10 a.m. when her car went out of control.

The vehicle veered across the road and the passenger side struck a utility pole.

Ms. Purcell was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 a.m. by Deputy Coroner Dennis Johns.
