Traffic will be limited to a single lane in the northbound direction this weekend on the Interstate 579/Crosstown Boulevard from the Liberty Bridge to Veterans Memorial Bridge.

In addition, the exit leading to Seventh Avenue and Downtown will be closed. The posted detour will circle drivers to Center Avenue, Washington Place, Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue.

Weather permitting, the restrictions are to start at 8 p.m. Friday and continue around-the-clock up to 6 a.m. Monday.

It's all part of continuing off-peak work on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's $5.2 million project to rehabilitate and repave I-579 below Mellon Arena during this year's construction season.
