Better finishes on metal furnishings have made rust a relic of summers past. The collections run the gamut from contemporary to classic to quirky.
The Outback Chair Company reinvented the idea of California dreaming when it rolled out the Wave, a hammock woven of all-weather resin, from the Urban Balance Collection, which retails for $899. The San Diego company, which started in 1997, is known for its floating furniture. Another way to catch a breeze poolside is on the curvy Koverton Classics Sail Lounge chair.
The Estancia Collection by Century is the ultimate in deep-seat comfort, but it comes with a sky-high price tag. Designer Richard Frinier used hammered copper nailheads and faux leather to create a look that is decadent for the great outdoors. The club chair goes for $4,500 and the sofa retails for $14,940.
Not to be outdone, Brown Jordan just introduced a leather version of its popular Zephyr lounge chair. The Zephyr Collection includes a love seat, occasional tables and a lounge chair.
Taking a clear look at luxury dining is the sushi table by Gloster with brightly colored seating that tucks under the glass top. Philippe Starck, one of the most prolific designers of our time, has contemporized and colorized the old tube stacking chair with his PIP-e chair for Driade for $271.
