Teenage worker killed during robbery at Waterfront restaurant
Sunday, July 13, 2008

An armed robber killed a 19-year-old male worker at Damon's Restaurant at The Waterfront shopping and entertainment complex in West Homestead early today.

Allegheny County Police said a man entered a rear door of the restaurant at about 12:40 a.m. as two employees were closing for the night. Police said the robber met with "minimal resistance," but he shot one of the workers and then had the other open the restaurant safe.

The robber, described only as a tall, black man, then escaped through the same rear door.

Police said the worker was transported to UPMC Presbyterian, where he was pronounced dead.

The county medical examiner's office identified the victim as Brian Lee, 19, of West Mifflin. He died at 1:19 a.m. from a gunshot wound. Autopsy is underway.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call 412-473-1300 or 412-473-3000.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
