Brewers beat Pirates, 11-6

MILWAUKEE -- Zach Duke had his worst and shortest start of the season today in the Pirates' 11-6 loss to Milwaukee in front of 42,163 at Miller Park.

The left-hander pitched only 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits, three walks and seven runs (six earned).

It was the Pirates' fourth start of less than six innings on this 2-4 trip. In those four games, the starters yielded 29 hits and 20 runs (18 earned).

Enroute to finishing its three-game sweep of the Pirates, Milwaukee amassed a club-record 12 extra-base hits, including nine doubles.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy had three hits, including two home runs, and drove in four runs. In his past 18 games, Hardy is 33 for 74 (.446) with eight home runs and 20 RBIs.

For the Pirates, All-Star Nate McLouth had two hits, including a three-run double that tied the game, 4-4, in the second inning. Adam LaRoche hit a two-run home run in the third inning that put the Pirates up, 6-4.

The Pirates have lost 11 of their past 12 games at Miller Park.
