A Butler County man died yesterday in a three-car crash on Route 66 in Clarion County, authorities said.

Richard Zabicki, 73, of Chicora, died at Clarion Hospital from injuries suffered in the incident, which occurred at about 2 p.m.

State police said a 17-year-old motorist driving north on Route 66 in Paint Township crossed lanes and struck the car driven by Mr. Zabicki in addition to another vehicle. Mr. Zabicki and a female passenger were trapped in their vehicle until rescue workers brought equipment to free them.

That passenger and the two other drivers also were transported to the hospital with injuries. The crash is under investigation, but alcohol was not deemed a factor by police.
